How to convert AVIF to JPG
AVIF is a modern compressed image format. Choose a static AVIF, select JPG and prepare the image. For a transparent original, choose PNG or WebP to preserve transparency. AVIF decoding depends on your browser; animated AVIF is not supported.
Conversion steps
- Choose a suitable static JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF or AVIF from your device.
- Choose JPG for photographs, PNG when transparency matters, or WebP for compact web images. JPG output uses your chosen background colour.
- Choose an output format, prepare the image and use Download image to save it.
Can JPG keep a transparent background?
No. JPG has no transparency. Transparent areas are filled with the background colour you select; PNG and WebP can preserve transparency.
Can I open iPhone HEIC and AVIF photos?
Yes. Static HEIC/HEIF photos are decoded on your device; the decoder loads only when needed. AVIF requires browser support. Image collections and animations are not supported. Exports are JPG, PNG or WebP, rather than HEIC or AVIF. For government forms, check whether conversion or editing is allowed.
What happens to my original?
Your original file is unchanged. Processing happens in this browser without uploading your image to FileMelon. A new export may have a different file size, colour appearance or metadata. Check the preview and output before using it.
